How to view a Canon DSLR live on a Mac

  1. Connect a supported Canon camera with a USB data cable and turn it on.
  2. Open ViewportCam and start live view.
  3. Compose on your Mac, then set exposure and focus before you capture or record.

No HDMI capture card is required for the preview. Available controls and autofocus behavior depend on the camera body and shooting mode.

More than a preview monitor

The same connection can capture photos, start and stop supported in-camera recording, browse files from the camera card, and publish a virtual webcam feed for Mac video apps.
